Property Description

Rancho de los Colores

Enter through the antique Mexican doorway, stroll the wisteria-covered, terra cotta tiled front porch, and step back in time when you arrive at Rancho de los Colores. Centrally located between the towns of Santa Ynez and Los Olivos, this historic adobe hacienda-style ranch is truly unequalled in the Santa Ynez Valley. Masterfully restored and creatively updated by Hollywood celebrities, the charming yet luxurious property boasts colorful adobe and stone walls, brick and terra cotta floors, tasteful artwork, and furnishings for the most discerning traveler.

The 3,300 square foot main house (the Hacienda) is perfect for entertainers as well as more reclusive guests. The kitchen is an artistic masterpiece, with custom tile work and hand-painted cabinetry. The eating area and fireplace is warm and inviting. It’s also a chef’s dream, equipped with professional grade appliances including a Wolf cooktop, Viking oven and Sub-Zero refrigerator, as well as top of the line cookware and smaller appliances. Original adobe walls adorn the separate formal dining room.

A large family room with comfortable leather sofas and another fireplace invites conversation, while an entertainment-focused sitting room is furnished with a large flat screen TV, DVR and DVD player, iPod/iPhone dock and other amenities. A covered veranda provides a comfortable place to sit and gaze upon the vineyard that overlooks the house.

The master suite boasts a California king bed, yet another fireplace, and an en suite bathroom that is beyond compare. The second bedroom in the main Hacienda is comfortably furnished with a luxurious queen bed and a claw foot soaking tub in its en suite bath.

The property’s guest house, or Vintner’s Cottage, provides separate accommodations for two to four more people. The Vintner’s Cottage has a comfortable queen bed, a small kitchen, a dining table for six, and a sitting area with a fireplace, leather queen sleeper sofa and flat screen TV. The Vintner’s Cottage also has a spacious tiled bathroom with shower, and a terra cotta back patio with a charming bistro set for four.

A few short steps away from the main Hacienda, the one-bedroom Casita’s charm awaits the romantic. The queen sized canopy bed is reminiscent of Arabian Nights, while a carved wood twin daybed with trundle in the separate sitting area provide cozy seating from which to view the flat screen TV by day, and comfortable accommodations for two more people at night. Shared by the two sleeping areas is a beautifully tiled bathroom with a shower.

Outdoor amenities abound at Rancho de los Colores. The spacious patio is furnished with a dining table that can seat up to eight, a tile bar with six barstools, gas BBQ grill, and a built-in traditional chiminea style wood burning pizza oven. Stroll across the lawn to relax by the pool on another spacious patio equipped with four lounge chairs. From there visitors can enjoy the view of the property’s five-acre pasture and riding arena, or stroll up to the six-stall adobe barn through the property’s one-acre vineyard. A visit to Rancho de los Colores is truly an unforgettable experience.

Property Reviews

Jim G.

"Our family stayed at Rancho de los Colores from May 5-7, 2017. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the stay at the Rancho. It is a very beautiful hacienda from the early days of California. There are numerous amenities that compare well with resort hotels. Perfect choice for 8-12 adults or a family of the same size. Secluded yet close to all Santa Ynez Valley attractions. We do recommend that future travelers consider this Rancho for their stay in the valley. We would certainly rent it again!"

"To celebrate hubby's 50th, we decided to surprise him with a trip to Santa Ynez, CA. It was the perfect location for both our Northern California and Southern California family members to meet up. It's not often a property is beautifully decorated yet practical for a family with kids, I'm still in awe with the attention to all the details to make sure guests were more than comfortable. Although the on-line pictures of the property are just beautiful, we didn't quite grasp how magical it really was until we experienced it. Thanks so much for making hubby's birthday weekend memorable!"

Irene

"The pictures here do not do this property justice. I hesitate to give a review as it may result in Rancho de los Colores being occupied when I would like to rent it next. Nonetheless. I commend the decorator. Incredible use of colors. I love the layout. So many places to be together or, if you wish, alone for a spell. The yard is a delight. Well laid out and just the right size. This is a great property!"

Erika

"Stayed at Rancho de los Colores with several girlfriends over the course of a weekend and we all had such a wonderful time!! The grounds are beautiful and there is ample space for large groups. The yard is huge with a great area to BBQ and lounge. We had a wonderful time enjoying the hot SY weather next to the pool. It was such a lovely, quiet property; none of us wanted to leave. I would highly recommend staying here."

Emily H.

"My husband and I wanted to get away for my birthday, and Rancho De Los Colores was the perfect place. We stayed in the large guest house with kitchenette and full dining table, pullout leather sofa, queen bed with luxury linens, and full bath also with luxurious towels and robes (one of my favorite amenities - makes you feel like you're at a spa resort). The house sits far back from the road and allows for privacy. Sitting out by the pool is like heaven, especially on a 75 degree February day! The location is amazing - close to wineries (Roblar is a favorite), Los Olivos, Santa Ynez. There are some great restaurants nearby if you don't feel like cooking in the well-appointed kitchen (everything you could need to create a gourmet meal, including a Frozen Concoction Machine). I particularly liked Sides Hardware and Shoes in Los Olivos (yes, that is the name of the restaurant) and SY Kitchen in Santa Ynez. Cannot wait to get back to Rancho De Los Colores!!"

"We had a great time. The country is beautiful as are the grounds, buildings, pool, stables, etc. Close to town ... good restaurants, beautiful countryside. Lovely furniture, great beds. Clean and nice kitchen, bathrooms, sitting rooms.... TV and fireplaces. Lots of places to just relax, read and be comfy, happy and glad to be there."

Bailey

"We had a great time relaxing, playing games, eating, drinking wine, riding horses, (not in that order), walking the dogs, golfing, and some of us even snuck away to go gambling. No shortage of fun stuff to do here for kids and adults. Great pool, outdoor pizza oven and BBQ. This ranch is the perfect mix of charm and comfort and its very close to the great shopping, high end restaurants and tasting rooms of Santa Ynez and Los Olivos."

Impressed Guest!

"Our family had a great stay at Rancho De Los Colores! From the moment we drove up to the inviting entrance gates, we knew this place would be something special. It has everything that anyone would want in a vacation rental. Very clean and the decor is beautiful! The main house is impressive, with two large dining tables for family meals and lots of cozy places to read a book, take a nap or just relax in a tranquil setting. The cottages are charming and well equipped. The fire pit is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and making s'mores. The pool is large with plenty of chairs for basking in the sun. There are tons of things to do in the area. We took a hike, went shopping in Solvang and did some wine tasting. If you have kids, we highly recommend visiting 'Seein' Spots Farm' which has adorable baby goats, mini donkeys and other animals. Make sure you see the 'Zonkey!' We can't say enough about our wonderful experience at the ranch! We highly recommend this property and can't wait for our next visit!"

Laurie P.

"Rancho de los Colores is a very special place. The house is so full of color and joy! It is a perfect getaway for families or a gathering of friends. There is so much to do in SY but you may never want to leave this beautiful and relaxing home (I didn't). The bedding is cozy. The details in this home are endless. The property is beautiful ...pool, vineyards, wisteria, pastures, fruit trees.... I dream of my next trip to Rancho de los Colores."

Phil H.

"We had the pleasure of staying two nights and loved it. I mean, loved it! The place has tons of character - colorful cottage and main house, very comfortable leather couches, great beds, and lots of places to relax including great patio and pool area. It is very easy to get to Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Buellton, or Solvang. Or any of the area wineries. There is so much to do in all of these towns. And the outstanding Roblar winery is probably one mile away. Will definitely return."

Robert H.

"My wife and I enjoyed staying here for a much needed family reunion. We stayed in both the guest house and the casita while we were there. They were both great for comfort and privacy. The main house was fantastic for getting together, playing games, watching TV, reading, cooking, etc. We could have stayed on property the whole time and had a great time but we also enjoyed sightseeing and wine tasting in nearby Solvang and Santa Ynez. There is so much to do around the area. There's even a casino nearby if you're so inclined. We highly recommend and will return (hopefully) for many more fun trips with friends and family."
