Property Description

Bungalow One “Cypress”

For over 125 years, The Bungalows have provided sanctuary for those seeking the tranquility and adventure of California’s Central Coast. Nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara wine country, The Bungalows at Mattei’s Tavern provide a starting point to walkable tasting rooms and a respite from the everyday hustle. Wander the streets of Los Olivos, sip a glass of wine on your front porch, or dine at the best restaurants in town. The Bungalows are a reminder to slow down and enjoy life.

Recently remodeled, The Bungalows provide pristinely updated accommodations while retaining the historic ambiance that families and friends have come to expect for over a century. Lush landscaping surrounding the cottage provides brilliant contrast to its whitewashed frame and original hard wood flooring.

Inside Cypress, a two-bedroom bungalow, curated historic photos and old west remnants celebrate The Bungalow’s history in a clean and modern presentation. The light-filled open kitchen boasts a farmhouse sink and a breakfast counter ideal for engaging conversation whilst cooking and sipping coffee, and the living room begs for an end-of-day toast to friends in front of the wood-burning brick fireplace. The aesthetic here is a brilliant balance of the site’s rich history with a nod to the future; it’s classy and comfortable, as the most special places ought to be. We welcome you to stay with us and to be part of the history of The Bungalows at Mattei’s Tavern.

Property Reviews

Lisa

“Cypress is such a beautifully renovated and charming unit. You really feel the history of the place while enjoying the modernized elements like AC and the fast wifi. Check in was a breeze, the place is stylishly appointed and sparkling clean, and you cannot beat the location. Great value - we'll be back.”

Oscar

“This place was really great. My friends and I (4 or us) stayed here for two nights. We had a wedding to attend one town over and, luckily, every hotel in the town was booked and we found this gem on AirBnB. Also, pretty close to Solvang. Everything was clean, organized, comfy, the area was beautiful and quaint, parking was easy and convenient. I highly rate it and recommended it.”

Jennifer

"All of the cottages at Mattei's are tastefully renovated, offering modern comfort and amenities without losing any of the rustic flair. Bedrooms are comfortable, kitchen is well supplied, and bathrooms are totally serviceable, though in no way spacious or luxe (though the bath products are great!) this is certainly the place to stay for proximity to tasting rooms (Waylan, Eleven, and Dragonette are highlights). Recommended on all fronts, perfect for a couple or a group of friends."

Peter

"Straight out of a pottery barn commercial. The most perfect accommodation in this pretty town. It is amazing!"

Cristyn

"This is the cutest bungalow ever but with updated beds and bedding that were hotel quality. We loved staying at this place!! All the little touches (makeup remover packets, bottled water, firewood) were so much appreciated. Also, I didn’t hear any noise worth complaining about and only heard church bells once on Sunday morning."
