Springtime is by far one of the most beautiful times to plan a vacation to the Santa Ynez Valley. The weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, the landscapes and vistas are awe-inspiring and picturesque, and the food and brews are in their prime as our local farmers’ markets are springing into full bloom. Below are events and our personal recommendations to plan your perfect spring getaway itinerary.
Spring Pop-Up Shop
“Mark your calendars this April for The Landsby’s Spring Pop-Up Shop! You’re invited to the beautiful Village Courtyard as they welcome back their favorite Los Angeles-based artist Rachel Brown, the talent behind the animal and abstract art found throughout the hotel. They also have two new additions: Idlewild, a local floral shop that specializes in simple, organic arrangements made from seasonal flowers and Sonder Goods, an emerging jewelry and home essentials line that supports artisans in Mozambique. Get ready to savor delicious food and wine with good company by the outdoor fire pits while listening to live music by Kate Steinway. Plus, they have extended their Happy Hour to kick off at 12pm featuring shareable bites and drink specials. We can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday – see you there!”
Cruise through the Solvang Farmer’s Market
Every Wednesday at 2:30pm., the Farmer’s Market comes to town with a plethora of locally sourced goods. Spring is the ideal time for ripe tomatoes, sweet capsicums, juicy strawberries and so much more! “The markets serve to strengthen the local communities ties and will help to provide weekly events at no cost while enhancing our community’s quality of life. Each week the farmers in the marketplace display a colorful bounty of agricultural products grown right in our backyard. Seasonal diversity is available year round rain or shine. Come. Shop. Socialize!”
Take a Cooking Class
Partake in a local cooking class at one of our properties with organic farmer, chef and educator Michelle Aronson. Her private, in-home classes are full service and include all equipment, locally sourced ingredients, recipe packets, and 2-3 hours of hands-on instruction while you cook a highly seasonal, locally sourced and vibrant meal together with friends and family. She loves drawing recipe inspiration while working in her vegetable gardens and strolling the farmers’ market. This spring she is especially excited to create dishes highlighting an abundance of fresh herbs, citrus and edible flowers! Book your spring cooking class HERE.
Stop by the Farmstead
The Farmstead at Folded Hills Ranch is reopening March 31st, after hibernating for the winter. This year the Farmstead will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10a.m. to 5p.m. offering organic produce from their fields and local farms, homemade baked goods and local staples from small batch purveyors. In addition to the Farmstead, Folded Hills is an artisanal winery recently named 2017 California Winery to Watch, by Wine & Spirits. Their wines are available to purchase online at Foldedhills.com. Book the ranch HERE if you are in need of a weekend to unplug, put your feet up and enjoy a glass of wine alongside a home cooked meal.
